Although eligibility is limited for the Armed Forces Vacation Club site (see the eligibility info at the end of the post), it is offered by Endless Vacation Rentals which has also has a site for everyone that also has some great deals. These sites are a great resource for low-cost accommodations as long as your plans are flexible. The best deals are mostly available during off-season and for last-minute travel, but even the high demand prices can save you a lot of money compared to hotels.
The properties are open timeshares available for rent not from individuals, but from the property managers to keep the rooms full. No presentation is given, no future obligation is incurred. Just pay and stay. The search capability and presentation of available rooms could be better. Especially if you are flexible and want to search/browse available rooms in several areas. I have yet to set up a stay through this site, but I am looking for a good deal this spring in Hawaii or the Caribbean.
